An art exhibition by Claudio Garzón staged at Cerritos Library beginning March 3, 2026
The collection features an array of marine life meant to serve as a Conversation Starter… the topic: “SAVE OCEANS + SEAS” or “S.O.S.” Each work of art is meticulously designed and crafted using an array of discarded materials washing into our vast oceans and waterways. As we pollute the planet, our defenseless neighbors absorb the trash as it breaks down in the form of microplastics and indigestible debris.
Claudio is an accomplished Long Beach artist whose works have been featured on the Discovery Channel and National Geographic, and exhibited in numerous institutions, including: Monterey Bay Aquarium, San Francisco’s Exploratorium, the Aquarium of the Bay,Pixar’s Animation Studios Intel and Googleplex.
Study each work and see if you can break the code. What pieces of trash have been incorporated into the body of each animal? How can we help save these actual animals from a fate of being poisoned by our debris?
